# Install a new icon theme

There are two types of themes in VS Code - color themes and icon themes. Icon themes will change the icons in the explorer for File, Folders, Projects and the like.

There are two icon themes included in the VS Code Can Do That extension pack...

1. [Material Icons](https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=PKief.material-icon-theme?frontendmasters-gitbook-buhollan)
2. [Chalice Icons](https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=artlaman.chalice-icon-theme?frontendmasters-gitbook-buhollan)

To switch to a new Icon Theme, open the Command Palette (**Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + P**) and select "Preferences: File Icon Theme"

Then select the Icon Theme you want to activate.

{% hint style="info" %}
I recommend Material Icons over all others because of the clarity that it brings to the File Explorer.

You can see red circle dots in this preview. That denotes that these are separate workspaces, not folders. Other icon themes will not make this distinction as you can see below in Chalice Icons.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://burkeholland.gitbook.io/vs-code-can-do-that/master/exercise-1-1/install-a-new-icon-theme.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
